Weekend Goals

I've recently been trying to "better myself" in the realm of keeping my house clean and keeping my schedule from becoming overwhelming. Thus far, my success rate has been fairly high but one job, one project is standing in my way of what I'll call "90% success." My office has yet to be unpacked since I moved to Arizona and in the last 7 months, it has become a repository for everything I didn't have any place else for.

I've been planning to clean and organize the cave of junk for the last two months or so, I even considered entering Org Junkie's 28-Day Organizing Challenge; alas, February has come and is about to leave and my room is still a mess. See isn't my desk embarrassing!

My plan is to fix that mess this Sunday. Yep, I'm only giving myself one day to get it done because I know that's all the focus I'll have to devote to it. If I drag it out over the entire weekend, I'll still be sifting through stuff until the day I move out of this house.

Last big announcement: I'm getting another dog. She's a "sort-of-rescue" dog who needs a new home because her family is moving out of the country and can't take her along. I'm hoping to get her next weekend, pics will follow!

My Bug

My dog Odin arrived in LA on 13 Jan, thanks to the awesomeness of Pet Airways and my mom for driving Odin to Chicago so he could get on the plane. Though the airline is small and only services a few airports, it was totally worth it. Odin was super excited, happy and seemed very well taken care of when I picked him up.

Since his arrival, he's been adjusting to life as an "inside dog" again and I've been adjusting to black dog hair all over my white tile floors. That transition was fairly easy, though I'm not proud to say that I'm now ok with my floors being fairly filthy!

It's been great having the dog to make me drag my lazy butt out of the house though. Charlie was also here for a few weeks so we took Odin out on the Colorado River while Charlie ran old gas out of his bass boat thing and scouted fishing/duck hunting spots along the river. Odin loves the wind blowing on his face as the boat runs along. He also got to go swimming, courtesy of another scouting adventure with Charlie. Funny how Odin loves standing water but the sprinklers in my yard don't really work for him.

I also purchased a doggy pack for Odin so that he can carry his own water and snacks when we go on hikes and long walks. We tested it out along a bike trail that also runs along the Colorado a couple of weeks ago and Odin loves it! He didn't try to wiggle out of it and, even though he's very easy to walk, he was exceptionally well behaved during that long walk. I think it's going to be a great addition to his walks and will hopefully help tire him out some because he has a TON of energy!
